The Racial Justice and Equity Commission (RJEC) has completed its assignment and published its report of findings, available through the link below. The term for the group expired as of February 2022, therefore no additional meetings will be scheduled. Documents from previous meetings of the group can be found in the Town Clerk's database through the link at the bottom of the page.
Community Report and Recommendations
After its formation in January 2021, the RJEC conducted community building and data collection efforts including a wide-ranging public survey on issues of race and racism; information gathering from community institutions including the Glastonbury Historical Society, Glastonbury Town Departments, Glastonbury Housing Authority, and Glastonbury Public Schools; public conversations on affordable housing and RJEC survey results; focus groups with community members of color in Glastonbury; and feedback received from Glastonbury community members through RJEC social media accounts and the RJEC email account.
This year-long process ordered by the Glastonbury Town Council was briefly extended to allow the RJEC to produce a summary report and recommendations for the Town Council. The RJEC presented the final report on its data collection, including commendations and recommendations for action to the Glastonbury Town Council at their meeting on February 8, 2022.
