Welcome to the Town of Glastonbury!
Hello and welcome to Glastonbury, Connecticut! Whether you are visiting or moving to town, we hope you will take the time to explore our beautiful community. Stretching along nine (9) miles of the Connecticut River, Glastonbury boasts many parks and recreational spaces, restaurants & cafes, farms/orchards, historic districts, and attractions. Incorporated in 1693, Glastonbury is one of Connecticut’s oldest municipalities, known for its ability to successfully blend picturesque and traditional settings with a progressive and thriving town center.
Glastonbury is fortunate to have an extremely active community, and has become a desirable place to build a home or business due to the exceptional public education, municipal management, and high quality of life. The Town is continuously recognized by local, state, and national organizations for achievements in energy efficiency and sustainability, infrastructure projects, prudent fiscal management, and innovative programming, and Town staff are constantly striving for new and innovative ways to serve the community. With a continuous offering of attractions, events, shopping opportunities, and amenities, people of all ages and backgrounds consider Glastonbury a great place to live, learn, play, and do business. Conveniently located just 10 miles southeast of Hartford, and moments from Route 2 and Inter-states 84 and 91, Glastonbury offers easy access to the Connecticut and Rhode Island shorelines, Boston and New York City, an outstanding selection of colleges and universities, and the benefits and attractions available throughout New England.
As part of our ongoing efforts to provide extraordinary customer service, the Town has a number of communication platforms for engaging citizens and sharing information. This website is updated regularly and features many useful resources for residents and business owners including: a detailed Events Calendar; News section; park/field/facility directory; a New Resident Resource guide; and a Citizen Request System. Community members can also explore this website to learn more about the many amenities and attractions available in Glastonbury, such as the nationally recognized Riverfront Park, annual community events (e.g. the Santa’s Run Road Race and the Summer Music Series), an abundance of walking/hiking trails, and the nationally accredited Riverfront Senior and Community Center, which offers diverse programming for all ages and interests.
