Energy Assistance Programs

Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)

Glastonbury Social Services is the local application site for the state’s Energy Assistance and Weatherization Programs. Social Workers are available to answer questions, complete applications and advocate, if necessary, to ensure that persons who are eligible receive the benefits.

The Energy Assistance program provides assistance with winter heating bills for deliverable fuels as well as utility heated households.  The Weatherization program provides assistance with winterizing homes (owners or renters) free of charge, to save money on energy costs.  Please use the links for more information about these programs. Applications are taken at the Riverfront Community Center for these programs during the designated application period. Home visits may also be arranged, if necessary. Please see the links below for information and current eligibility criteria.

Operation Fuel

Operation Fuel is funded primarily by the utilities’ “Add a Dollar” (or more) program and other private donations.  Income-eligible applicants can apply to receive a one-time grant up to $500 if experiencing a crisis situation with utilities and/or deliverable fuel.  Applications can be submitted online directly with Operation Fuel at www.operationfuel.org/gethelp/.

Glastonbury Fuel Bank

Glastonbury Social Services has limited funds available to assist residents experiencing a crisis situation, hindering their ability to pay for heating/utilities costs.  These funds are available on an emergency basis, and are provided solely through donations from individuals, business and community organizations.  Please call (860) 652-7638 and ask to speak with a social worker to apply.  To make a donation to the Glastonbury Fuel Bank, please follow this link: www.glastonburyct.gov/glastonburygives.
