Support Groups

Currently, Senior and Social Services sponsors the following Support Groups at no charge. Specific meeting dates are publicized in the Sharing Tree newsletter each month.

“Eye Openers” Low Vision Support Group

This group generally meets the fourth Friday of each month. The Low Vision Support Group is facilitated by Outreach Social Worker, Susan Parrotta.   Meetings are held at the Riverfront Community Center from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Interested residents may attend meetings at any time, as it is an open group. Educational speakers are provided at many meetings, as well as an opportunity for members to share concerns, questions, solutions, resources, challenges and celebrations for those who are dealing with low vision or loss of sight. For more information or to put yourself on the “reminder” list, please contact Susan Parrotta at (860) 652-7636 or susan.parrotta@glastonbury-ct.gov

Bereavement Support Group

Have you had a loved one pass away recently?  Are you experiencing the symptoms of grief such as the inability to eat or overeating, sleep changes, lack of concentration or feelings of hopelessness?   Joining this group will provide you with support and strategies to cope.  This group is co-sponsored by Hartford Healthcare at Home and Glastonbury Senior Center.  It meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Riverfront Community Center from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm.

To RSVP, call Andrea Burr at 860-372-6866 or email andrea.burr@hhchealth.org
