Social Services Programs

Our Services

Glastonbury Social Services provides several programs to assist residents who are experiencing financial difficulties. The social work staff is available to provide information and referrals to various assistance programs, assist with applications for these programs, and respond to certain basic needs.  See below for a list of our current programs.  To apply for any of the programs below, residents will need to provide recent proof of household income (Last 4 weeks) and proof of residency (utility bill). For more information or to schedule an appointment to apply, please contact 860-652-7638.

Back-to-School Program

Income-eligible children currently attending Glastonbury schools (Kindergarten through 12th Grade) may be eligible to receive a new backpack and help with school supplies.

Thanksgiving Program

Grocery store gift cards are provided to income-eligible Glastonbury residents to assist with a Thanksgiving meal.

Children's Holiday Program

Income-eligible Glastonbury families provide a wish list for donors who will be anonymously matched with the wish list of a child (infant through 18).  The donors can then shop for these items and return them to the Riverfront Community Center for distribution.

Fee Waivers for Parks and Recreation Programs

Applications are taken at Social Services for families seeking reduced rates for certain Parks and Recreation programs. Eligibility and the amount of discount is based on household income and size.

Emergency Assistance Program

Social Services may be able to assist residents experiencing a crisis situation, such as utility shut offs and evictions.  Limited funds are available and specific criteria must be met.  Please call the office for more information.
