DOT Opening Ceremony for Putnam Bridge Trail Connection in Glastonbury and Wethersfield

The CT Department of Transportation (DOT) has advised that the Putnam Bridge Trail Connection in Glastonbury and Wethersfield (DOT Project No. 0053-0190) will officially open to the public on Thursday, May 9, 2024. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 PM on May 9, 2024 on the Wethersfield side of the project. Additional details are expected over coming days, which should be posted by the DOT to their project web page. The Town will share any future updates regarding this ceremony as soon as they become available. As of this writing (5/2) this is all of the information that has been provided.

Parking

  • Vehicular - Citizens who are driving to the event can use the vehicular parking lot located at 70 Great Meadow Road in Wethersfield, CT.
  • Bike Parking - The Town of Glastonbury created a new map featuring Bicycle Routes and available parking (bike racks) throughout Glastonbury and near the new trail. Click here to view the Glastonbury Bicycle Routes and Parking Map 2024

Cyclists using the trail on opening day or thereafter are invited to visit the Riverfront Community Center (RCC) upon entering Glastonbury. The Riverfront Café, located at 300 Welles Street, is open Monday – Friday from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM and offers a variety of cold beverages, snacks, and lunch items while supplies last. The RCC was recently designated as an “end of trip facility” based on the availability of bike-friendly amenities on site.
