Memorial Day Parade

  • Date: 05/27/2019 9:00 AM
  • Location: Corner of Main and Welles Streets

The Veterans Service Commission of Glastonbury will host the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 27th.  The parade will begin at 9AM sharp, at the corner of Main and Welles Streets, proceed south on Main Street to Hubbard Street, left onto Hubbard Street past the reviewing stand, and end in front of the monuments on the Hubbard Green.

Memorial Day is a most solemn event, in that it gives us the opportunity to reflect upon, with respect and gratitude, the sacrifices of all the brave men and women who gave up their lives in defense of our Country. The parade will be followed by a ceremony on the green.  In case of showers or cloudy weather, the parade and Green Ceremony will proceed as planned. In case of a severe rainstorm, the ceremony will be held at the Glastonbury High School Gymnasium, 330 Hubbard St.

This day gives us the opportunity to educate our young people in the true meaning of Memorial Day by setting a positive example by the way we act and dress.  If you are planning to attend the parade or ceremony, please be respectful of the participants and meaning behind the day's activities.

We hope to see you there!
