Home MenuTake the Watershed Pledge!
A watershed is the area of land that drains or sheds water into a specific receiving water body, such as a lake or a river. As rainwater or melted snow runs downhill in the watershed, it collects and transports sediment and other materials, and deposits them into the receiving water body. All water bodies are part of a watershed. This also means that the water that runs off of individual property eventually ends up in our lakes, rivers, and streams. With that in mind, we could (and should) all play a part in protecting Glastonbury's watersheds. The best part is you can easily do so right from our own home and it starts with taking the Glastonbury Watershed pledge below!
In taking the pledge, the most important things to remember are to:
- Reduce the rate and volume of water runoff from your property
- Reduce your overall water usage, and
- Make choices that improve the quality of water running off of your property. This helps us to conserve our fresh water resources and prevents pollutants from reaching our lakes and rivers.
Take the pledge below today and start doing your part today to protect Glastonbury's watersheds. We appreciate your positive contribution to protecting our water bodies.
