Effective July 28, 2021: All pistol permit applicants are required to pre-enroll with the State of Connecticut to obtain a registration number which needs to be provided to us upon submitting a pistol permit application to the Town of Glastonbury. Completed application forms must be returned in person to the Police Department to be processed. Applicants paying applicable permit fees in cash must have exact change. Notary Services are also available for an additional fee. ($5)

Applicants will be fingerprinted for a criminal history check at the time they submit their application (Mon-Fri, 8am to 3:30 p.m.). An investigator will then be assigned to conduct a background check and a temporary pistol permit may be issued by the Chief of Police upon successful completion of the background check. Applicants will be notified by mail (USPS) within 4-6 weeks.
