Camp Discovery 2024

Program Overview

A traditional day camp program designed to meet the needs of working parents while providing a fun filled day. Campers participate in six program areas, swim lessons, free swim, special events and field trips. Campers will be split into groups by age/grade. All groups will meet at the same location and campers see each other during the day but field trips and activities differ. This is not a drop in program and campers should plan on being there for the entire day. There will be no swim lessons during preview week or adventure week. 

Dates & Location

Camp will be held at Glastonbury High School. 

Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Extended Cafe: 7:30-8:30 AM and 4:30-5:30 PM

Preview Week: June 13 - June 21 (No Camp 6/19; No Swim Lessons)
Session 1: June 24- July 3 (No camp 7/4  or 7/5, Day Trip offered 7/5)
Session 2: July 8 - July 19
Session 3: July 22 - August 2
Adventure Week: August 5-9

Registration

Online and Mail-In Registration is currently scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 12th.  CLICK HERE to go to the registration website.  Information on registration for Extended Care will be emailed to registered families in May,   All registered families who need extended care will be accommodated. 

Camp Discovery - Info for Parents

Traditional full day camp programs for children who have completed grades K-6.  Campers will be broken up into groups based on the grade they just completed.

Discovery Junior - Info for Parents

An introduction to our traditional Camp Discovery program.  This half day program will include arts & crafts, games, special activities and weekly trips to the pond and splashpad.  Campers should pack a lunch and will eat together before going home. 

Paperwork & Forms

Complete & Update your Forms

Medication
For Campers who require medication during the camp day or for emergencies, please complete a Medication Authorization form. Forms may be emailed as PDF attachments to liz.gambacorta@glastonbury-ct.gov  OR you may log into your MyRec account and upload the documents (once logged in select “members”  then click on your child’s name, then scroll to the bottom and upload the appropriate “Medication Authorization Form”). Forms should be turned in as soon as possible, no later than Wednesday before your camper's first day of camp.   Medications should be dropped off the first morning of camp.

Field Trip Waivers
Some of our field trip destinations require their own waiver to be completed.  Please complete any required waivers prior at least two business days prior to the first day of the session.

Day Tripping with Parks & Rec

Camp Discovery will not meet on June 19th & July 5th this year!  Need child care on these days or just looking for the kids to have a fun day out?  Join our camp staff on a day trip.  Trip includes transportation, admission, and supervision.  Click Here to Register for the Day Trip

Summer Camp Kickoff Event

We are excited to host the Summer Camp Kickoff event.  This years event will take place on Tuesday, June 11th from 5:30-7:30 PM behind the Riverfront Community Center and include staff from all camps to meet parents and campers, answer questions and take paperwork (if needed).  The event will include a inflatables, games, music and more!  Activities are free but families may want to bring money for the Ice Cream Truck. 

Camp Lunch Program

Once a week there will be the opportunity to purchase lunch for your camper.  We alternate weeks between Pizza and Sandwiches. 

Pizza Lunch - Includes cheese pizza, bag of chips, drink and dessert.
Sandwich Lunch - Choice of ham, turkey or veggie 6" grinder, bag of chips, drink and dessert.

Cancellations & Refunds

Camp Discovery has extremely long waitlist.  If you are currently registered for a session and no longer need it, please cancel as soon as you know.  Cancellations are accepted via our Cancellation Form.  https://glastonbury.seamlessdocs.com/f/cancellationform

Refund Policy - refund requests must be made no later than five (5) business days before the program begins. Refund requests will not be considered after this time unless accompanied by a doctor’s note.
