Cadet Program

The Glastonbury Fire Cadet program shows youth from 14-18 years old the basics of firefighting. Those enrolled in the Fire Cadet Program learn the importance of safety and team work, as well as how to become a firefighter. Cadets learn fire behavior, building construction, extinguishers, search and rescue and many more topics. Once a Cadet turns 15 and demonstrates competency on the fireground, he or she is permitted to attend regular fire department drills, as well as selected calls. While on the fireground, Cadets serve extremely valuable and helpful tasks to assist the firefighters, while gaining hands on experience and being part of the Fire Department team.
