Starting at 6:00pm There will be a social hour to enjoy conversation, a picnic type dinner and volunteer sign-up for fall work dates. At 7:00pm we will hold a brief business meeting followed by a conversation with our guest speaker, Brenda Sullivan on “Winter Herb Gardening with Hydroponics".
"Explore the efficient and rewarding process of Winter Herb Gardening with Hydroponics. Join Brenda Sullivan for an in-depth presentation on using a tabletop hydroponic system to grow medicinal and culinary herbs during the winter months. Learn about herbs' medicinal and culinary value, their chemical-free properties, and how they support a healthy lifestyle. Brenda will also share her unique formula for an organic hydroponic growing solution. The presentation includes a PowerPoint and 'before' and 'after' displays of the hydroponic garden setup and growth. Perfect for avid home gardeners, apartment and condo dwellers, and anyone interested in sustainable practices.”
Brenda J. Sullivan is a seasoned herbalist and market gardener based in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. As the founder of Thompson Street Farm LLC, Brenda has transformed her property into an enchanting micro-farm that is a testament to her dedication to sustainable agriculture and her love for the natural world.
With a particular affinity for lavender, medicinal herbs, and vibrant flowers, Brenda has honed her craft in growing various plants. Her expertise extends to creating handcrafted goat’s milk herbal soaps and bath products sold under the name Farm to Bath. Her bath and body products are a labor of love and reflect her commitment to using locally grown, natural ingredients.
As an author, Brenda has channeled her extensive knowledge of and passion for nature into creating nature-themed children's books. Her works are designed to inspire young readers to explore and appreciate the environment around them, fostering a sense of wonder and stewardship for the earth.
Brenda's love for the outdoors is a driving force in her life. She is an active member of a hiking and kayaking club, where she combines her passion for environmental advocacy with the joy of exploration. Her commitment to the environment is not just professional but deeply personal.
