The importance of Native Plants in Your Yard

Hosted by Glastonbury Pollinator Pathway and TALK

Tracy Kavanaugh, Master Naturalist, will present a free talk on "The importance of Native Plants in Your Yard” on Wednesday, August 28th from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Friends Room in WTML. This event is designed to correspond with our upcoming native plant sale outside Glastonbury Town Hall’s main entrance on September 7 & 8 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. No registration required!

Program Overview:

Native plants are adapted to the local climate and soil conditions where they naturally grow. These important plant species provide nectar, pollen and seeds that serve as food, as well as habitat, for native pollinators such as butterflies, insects, birds and other animals.

Tracy will also discuss the benefits of planting in the fall, why we will sell plugs instead of full-size plants at our plant sale, what plugs will be available at our sale and important facts about each type of plug, such as what pollinators they attract.
