Ribbon Cutting at Welles Park Playground

Update - Event happening rain or shine!!!

Our ribbon cutting ceremony is still happening today as scheduled and will be held rain or shine! The rain should taper off by this afternoon but please grab your rain boots and umbrellas just in case and join us today at 3:30 PM for free ice cream and an official reopening celebration! After all, kids love playgrounds, ice cream, and puddles!

The Town of Glastonbury will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly renovated Welles Park Playground on Thursday, May 16th at 3:30 PM.

This event is open to all.

Brief comments will be made by project stakeholders and complimentary ice cream will be available for attendees.

Slated to reopen in late April/early May*, the renovated playground features new equipment for youth ages 2-12 including two (2) new swing sets, slides, and climbing nets. The new playground was designed to address the desires and concerns of community members as expressed through a public survey, and was funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.

This event will be held rain or shine.

General parking and bike racks are available at Welles Park: 185 Griswold Street. Accessible parking is also available at the Housing Authority property located directly across the street. (25 Risley Road)

We hope to see you there!

*Upon completion, the renovated Welles Park Playground will be open to all on a daily basis from dawn until dusk.
