Community Shred Event

The Refuse Division is hosting a Community Paper Shred event on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Transfer Station (2340 New London Tpke.) Please note, these events were previously held at the Public Works Garage.

These events are for disposal of personal, residential documents. Commercial / business disposal is not accepted. Please review the following guidelines before attending these events:

  • Limit of (6) bags or boxes per vehicle.
  • Sensitive documents ONLY are eligible for shredding - e.g. pay stubs, bank statements, medical records, personal identifying information, tax forms, etc. 
  • Non-sensitive documents may be routinely recycled in your standard recycling container and are NOT accepted at shredding event - e.g. junk mail, magazines, books, cards, envelopes, school papers
  • Documents should be in secure bags / boxes which can support the weight of the material, and can be easily accessed within your vehicle for unloading by staff.
  • Resident verification (driver's license) required.
  • Container(s) or receptacle(s) used to deliver documents will NOT be returned.
