Tories, Spies and Traitors: Divided Loyalty in Revolutionary Connecticut

Library Program for Adults

Revolutionary War Reenactment-Fotolia-c Peter*** This event is full, but you may still add your name to the waiting list ***

Which side are you on? That’s the question that every single person in Connecticut had to answer in 1775, as the thirteen colonies began a rebellion against British rule. Loyalty was not only a matter of words or opinion. For soldiers and civilians alike, loyalty could mean loss of fortune, of friend and even of life. This presentation reveals stories – some well known, some obscure – of Nutmeggers who risked and sacrificed to support their chosen side during this “tumultuous jarring time of civil war.” Seating is limited, so registration is requested online or at the Reference Desk at 860-652-7720.

Taylor is a former high school social studies teacher, with a B.A. in History and a Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington.
