"Build a Better ... You!" ~ Experience Nature as Healer

Library Program for Adults

"Build a Better ... You!"
On the first Wednesday of every month (except January) we will host a lecture on health topics, followed by discussion.

Marlow-image appears with permissionDiscover how nature can guide, calm, inform and restore you with Marlow Shami. Studies conducted over the past twenty years confirm that contact with the natural world and meditation can lift your spirits, reduce anxiety, alleviate pain, increase brain function and help cultivate a sense of belonging and compassion. In this lecture, beautiful and compelling images support Marlow’s focus on the challenges and rewards of connecting with nature in a mass-technological culture. After the lecture, there will be an outdoor component from 7:30-8 pm. Come and experience the simple power of nature’s healing effects through guided meditation and out-of-door experiential activities. Seating is limited, so registration is requested online or at the Reference Desk at 860-652-7720.

Marlow Shami is a nature-based teacher, artist, and writer who conducts workshops throughout New England specializing in the healing connection between humans and the natural world. Shami received her BFA in photography and video from the University of Hartford Art School, and a Masters of Science in Ecopsychology.
